I'M A CELEBRITY 2008 GOSSIP

Jungle japes continue

The fire might have finally gone out in the camp, but there have still been some aftershocks following the rumble in the jungle that was I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

However, there’s some heart-warming news to report first. Joe Swash, the newly crowned King of the Jungle, has pledged his charity earnings from viewers’ votes to a campaign against knife crime.

The cash, estimated at £30,000, will go to the Ben Kinsella Trust. The charity was established in memory of the brother of Joe’s former EastEnders colleague Brooke Kinsella; 16-year-old Ben was stabbed to death in London earlier this year.

While Joe is no doubt still feeling pretty pleased with himself, getting back to civilisation hasn’t been quite as rewarding for former Blue star Simon Webbe.

The generally laid-back “ebony Adonis” grabbed the microphone at the show’s wrap party and started to warble a few tunes. However, the other partygoers, including his fellow contestants and 400 staff and crew, turned nasty and booed him off.

There was also a minor outbreak of air rage when camp adversaries David Van Day and Nicola McLean found themselves sat next to each other on their flight out of Australia.

Nicola begged the cabin crew to relocate her when she found out who she’d be sharing an armrest with, while the Dollar singer joked that he’s try to get her arrested when the plane arrived in Singapore.

The preening popster also made light of claims that he’d overstepped the mark when he slapped Nicola’s bum during their brief truce in the jungle. “Some would say I didn’t smack her hard enough”, he chortled.
